This site has been dedicated to Bharat Rattan Baba Sahib Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar in the memory of Babu Mangu Ram Muggowalia, Gadharite and founder of Ad Dharm Movement in Punjab. The sole aim of this site is to highlight the plight of the Mulnivasis (Inhabitants) of India who have not only been deprived of their due share in the wealth of their own country, but had also been subjected to untold miseries over centuries. Atrocities against them are still rampant in almost all the parts of the country. Hardly a day passes when there is no news about the social boycott or physical repression of all sorts on them. Ambedkartimes.com is duty bound to highlight all such incidents as well as to seek and articulate some solid perspective for the amelioration of this age-old problem old social exclusion and blatant violation of the basic human rights of the Dalit brethren.

I once again thanks for your kind support and also expect the same in future too so that this modest attempt would continue in the service of our community. www.ambedkartimes.com deeply welcome your suggestions for its better functioning. This is your web site and it is you who have to make it successful. Kindly send your valuable articles, news reports, and opinions regularly, we would be pleased to carry them gratefully.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2024
*World Peace: Need of Entire Humanity*

Always and in all times, world peace remains the most important concern of scholars, statesmen and spiritual visionaries. Emmanuel Kant, imminent German philosopher, wrote his seminal book entitled 'Perpetual Peace' in response to such widespread human anxiety about the survival of life on our only known living planet in the cosmos. He was of the firm opinion that perpetual peace could be secured only through an international federation of republican states and international cooperation. In other words, international cooperation is the only key to world peace. But unfortunately, what the world has been experiencing for the last few decades, especially since the end of the Cold War as well as the demise of the USSR, is the opposite. Continuing protracted conflicts in Syria, Ukraine, and now in Gaza, the way they are being handled can any time snowball into major global conflicts with serious implications for the whole of humanity. The year 2023 witnessed two complex conflicts, which do not seem to come to an end along with its coming to closer and giving way to the coming New Year. The children, young, old, women and men all in the territories of Ukraine and Gaza have been passing through such a terrible phase that no one can afford to ignore. But it is also pathetic that the entire plethora of happenings of insane cruelties have been allowed to pass through the human eye silently. Let us pray for the peaceful resolution of these conflicts for clearing of dark clouds of World War hovering over our heads and pledge to make 2024 a year for the beginning of perpetual peace - the vision of one of the most brilliant philosophers of the world!

Wishing you all peaceful, safe and healthy New Year!!

Punjab has the distinction of being the only state in India where caste based social exclusion was diluted because of the long spell of Muslin rule on the one hand and the most appealing egalitarian philosophy of Sikh faith and its grassroots impact on transformation of the life of downtrodden, on the other. However, caste and its resultant social negativities never ceased to torment the major section of the society. Caste discriminations in Punjab were/are more material in nature than social as in other parts of India. Prejudice takes precedence over pollution in Punjab. However, absence of pollution does not mean that Brahminism social order is alien to it. On the contrary, it thrives under new structures of social subordination entrenched in material deprivation of Dalits in the state. Material depravation of the downtrodden in the state was reinforced by the customary laws of Razat-Namaas and the Punjab Land Alienation Act of 1900.  Along with many other non-agricultural castes, Scheduled Castes people were historically deprived the right to own land. This restriction made them absolutely landless. It was because of this legal restriction that when Babu Mangu Ram Mugowalia Ji after his return to Punjab from USA asked his father to buy some land to evade social oppressions at the hands of landlords that he came to know that social subordination of the Scheduled Castes people was also rooted in the law of the land. This has led him to organize his fellow beings to form a movement for the emancipation and empowerment of downtrodden what eventually termed as Ad Dharm Movement. This movement was the first of its kind that became suddenly popular because of its grassroots appeals. Babu Mangu Ram Mugowalia Ji devoted his entire life for the cause of total transformation of his country and the socio-economic and political uplift of his people who were relegated to the periphery since centuries. He exhorted his people to come over a common platform to challenge the forces that subjugated the Dalits. He waged a long battle and finally able to unite many communities among the Scheduled Castes to work for their upward social mobility. Scheduled Castes of Punjab, particularly of the Doaba region, consider him the pioneer of Dalit movement in the state that played a leading role in strengthening the mission of Dr B. R. Ambedkar not only in Punjab but in the whole of the country. http://www.deshdoaba.com/  & http://www.ambedkartimes.com/  congratulate all its contributors, readers, and well-wishers on this auspicious occasion on the 135th Birth Anniversary of Great Freedom Fighter Baba Babu Mangu Ram Mugowalia Ji.
